Participate with researchers about a new topic each month Our researchers will be giving special attention to a new and Our researchers will be giving special attention to a new and interesting topic each month. Our goal is to increase pubic awareness while providing our passengers with a unique learning opportunity. Each trip will include an introductory hand-out, educational videos, display materials, and special commentary from our naturalists on our topic. |

Students Learn by Participating in Real Scientific Research
The group will be presented with a slate of questions pertaining to the whale watch. Our marine scientists from CORE along with our crew members interact with the students to help answer the questions on the return voyage. |

Junior Intern Program with the Center for Oceanic Research & Education
The CORE internship is a 5 week program consisting of 5 whale watching excursions with Yankee Fleet, a research project, and weekly homework assignments. This is Goals and Objectives 1. To give middle and high-school aged students who are interested in marine biology, the opportunity to learn about whale research conducted from a whale-watching vessel. 2. To introduce students to general concepts in marine biology. 3. To offer students the opportunity to work directly with senior interns and marine biologists. 4. To familiarize students with field research and provide them with an early introduction to the field of marine mammal biology. Students will learn the basics of photo-ID research and data collection and be trained in the operation of field instruments and navigational tools. 5. To give students experience working with the public in our education outreach program. Students will be directly supervised at all times during the boat trips.
