Monday report

By Bill C

After a day off, we were right back at it with 2 charters. The Yankee Clipper left the dock at 6am. They managed to jump on a great bite as soon as they started fishing. They limited out on cod. Then chased the haddock around. Great day !

We were an hour and a half behind the on the Yankee Freedom. By the time we arrived the big bite was over. We managed a steady pick all day. More cod than haddock. A few good sized cusk were added to the mix. Not a bad day

The schedule is on the website. My next report will be Thursday on our way in from the 2 day trip.

Tough day at sea.

By Bill C

Headed out this morning with high hopes. Unfortunately the day didn’t go as planned. The haddock are still hiding out. And very well  I  might add. We got a few nice cod on the first stop. Back over rail they went. The rest of the trip was very slow. Come on cod season !!!!!!

The first man I met when i first went fishing on the Yankee fleet was Geroge, “Bumpy”, to all who knew and loved him in which we all surely did. He taught me much more about fishing in that its not only about the catching of fish, but most importantly that the true friendships, relationships that are established thru enjoying fishing , but especially on the Yankee Fleet, his favorite boat ! He was the Yankee Fleet in my opinion because thats why we went, we went to fish with George because he made it so much fun! I drank with him a few Captain Morgans/sailor jerry’s after fishing which was just as good as the great fishing that such a great fleet like the Yankee Fleet/ Jerry hill/ now Tommy O provide but the atmosphere was created by the legends of Jerry Hill, Tommy O, Bill Campbell, and such a wonderful staff like Theresa, the Captains but this man was a true friend that i loved -we all loved and we will cherish those memories he gave us thruout the years, never to die in our hearts. For we will keep him alive, “Bumpy” alive 4 ever for he is a Legend” of The Yankee Fleet that no one man could every replace. My condolences go out to his loving wife Ruth, or as he would call her “ruthy”. Ruth you were the Love of his life , and he worshipped the ground that you walked on ! What a man and what a wonderful wife he had is all that mattered when he had that one or two drinks, it was time to go home to his loving wife who he lived every day for. I hope The Yankee Fleet Tommy O build a “Statue” of this fishing legend who touched so many peoples lives and made me realize that its not the fishing but the friends you fish with. Such a giving , great man was George. Fishing on the fleet will never be the same but as long as we keep him alive , he will live on every fishing trip I take on the Fleet for he was the Yankee Fleet, the spokeman who made fishing fun- He lived a Dream Life wife a Dream Wife! Many Friends in the tens of thousands will remember his Legend and Legacy. Thanks for the Great times George., We have suffered a major loss but we will never let you die for you are a Legend that can never Die! God Blessed us with this man and now George will be fishing with the greatest of all fishermen, God..A pretty good partner Id say. I almost got the “Horses Ass” award a few times but no mattter what, he use to ‘bust” on me fondly and if he did that to you alot that meant he liked you. It was mutual i assure you! Thanks for everything my friend George- miss ya love ya forever buddy- To Ruth, I say,” Behind Every Great Man, Is A Great Woman”. His love for you/ and yours for him is for Eternity .. I will be fishing with the Yankee Fleet soon i hope and will bring a bottle of Sailor Jerry as usual for us to salute are dear friend. I always looked forward to seeing him when I came out to fish , like thousands and thousands of others , thats nes of the big reasons we came….he made fishing much more than catching fish.. To …Tommy O - Yankee Fleet- ” No body will ever replace “The Legend” but we can only keep following his lead. He will be often “immitated, ..but Never Duplicated! God broke the Mold when he Created George “Bumpy” Cabral ! He loved the Yankee Fleet as his family. What a Great family you have George. Words can not express what you meant to us all so in short, I will always love ya and remember you with a smile every time I fish . Sincerely, Greg Colello, “Greg Cod”,
