Opening weekend! 4/5 & 4/6/25

The Yankee Clipper kicked off the season fishing full day trips all weekend.

Saturday showed us some tougher sea conditions and we spent the whole day on anchor making several stops averaging about 30 min each with a very quick first stop. The fish would bite then cool off quickly requiring us to move frequently. Keeper haddock were coming up with a few cusk but a lot of shorts in the mix and anglers worked for it. Most experienced anglers had 3-5 fish with a few people doing better and worse.

Sunday yielded some better fishing, we had 2 productive drifts starting around 1030 until a little after 1200. A fair amount of action on the good drifts. Keeper haddock, shorts, throwback cod (a few were actually 23”), a few pollock, and a handful of redfish during the good drifts. Picking away the rest of the day. High fish counts for the day were 8+ fish.

We did some scouting with the Yankee Pearl before the weekend. Pic is Colin showing off a keeper on a Friday recon trip.
